Overview

We were asked by WARP to create a cutting-edge, family-friendly smart system. The majority of upscale, recently constructed homes come with a large number of internet-connected devices. Most families find it overwhelming to keep track of all these gadgets, which makes it hard to make effective use of them. Families require more precise information about their energy usage as a result of growing energy expenses. Integrating all of this data into a single, user-friendly system was essential.

The Challenge

My teams goal was to develop a system that could manage these gadgets and give information about how much energy they used. I assumed the duty of overseeing the research for this project. I concentrated on comprehending the needs of the household, the different features that a smart home system can provide, and determining who is in need of these features.

The Solution

I investigated a variety of research techniques while concentrating mostly on the study. I was able to carry out undercover agency research, usability testing, and A/B testing. Personas and customer journeys, which formed the basis of our concept and context during the design phase, allowed these approaches to converge.

The Result

Clome provides families with a comprehensive overview of all their devices, allowing them to control and operate them from a single screen while also offering feedback and recommendations for energy-saving measures. Everyone can maximize the system's potential because each user can personalize the home screen. With this innovative system, families can improve the usability of their smart devices and better manage their energy consumption. Simple, programmable screens have made it simple for families to interact with their lighting and security systems.

The Transfer

Collaboration—working together on a system composed of various components—is the most significant lesson I took away from this project. Since everyone came to different conclusions from the same insights, it was very difficult to bring the concept together. After multiple meetings, we were able to come to an agreement and successfully finish the project.
